The world's energy consumption is doubling every decade, and it is predicted that between 2001 and 2025, global energy consumption will increase by 54%. Interestingly, in this perspective, the highest amount of energy consumption is allocated to developing countries such as Iran.

The report of the World Energy Union is complementary to the fact that we have encountered it many times in the press and media and during repeated reports: that is, per capita energy consumption and waste in Iran is extremely high and staggering! Statistics show that the consumption of petroleum products in Iran has tripled in less than two decades, and the average annual energy consumption in Iran has grown by about 10%.On the other hand, improper consumption and irrational and unreasonable waste of energy have cost the country billions. The most important factors that have caused more and in this regard and caused the per capita consumption and waste of energy in our country to take such a terrible trend, can be listed as follows: Reliance on traditional methods, use of old technologies in industry, lack of improvement and modernization of the old structure, abundance and cheapness of fuel and fossil fuel prices (so that the price of mineral water is higher than the fuel consumed in the country!), Lack of interest culture Efficiency and optimization of energy consumption, lack of proper information and training, lack of awareness and unfamiliarity of most people with energy efficiency management and optimization and… are all among the reasons for increasing per capita consumption and excessive waste of energy in the country .

The trend of excessive consumption and horrible waste of energy in Iran and neglect and indifference to it is so great that so far the loss of all these huge financial assets has brought us less, and perhaps we can say that we are witnessing more waste and waste. We have been the source of energy in the country, so that we can think of a solution for it! If we have done something, it has either not been useful at all or it has been of little use. But consider the United Kingdom, for example, while it does not face energy problems like ours at all, and their attitudes and plans for energy conservation are interesting.

No, according to a plan in the UK, the lights of highways and freeways in this country will be turned off or dimmed from midnight onwards, when car traffic is reduced, in order to save electricity consumption, and municipalities are also required to do so. They have been able to turn off and even turn off street lights after midnight to save electricity. But in our country, which is facing a severe problem of energy loss and high per capita consumption, is it done in order to save and optimize energy?

However, considering the single-product economy and relying on oil revenues and high energy consumption per capita in the country and, most importantly, its excessive waste, the need for public efforts to be efficient and optimize energy consumption as a national need and necessity. it is obvious.

Certainly no one can deny the fundamental role and place of energy in the economic and social growth and development of countries.

Ways to reduce and optimize energy consumption

Production of standard heaters and installation of sensitive and alarm system to reduce oxygen on them.

- Material and spiritual support of green industries.

- Imposition of fines and punitive policies for polluting industries and obliging them to comply with environmental regulations.

- Improving the quality level of standards and further interaction with centers for the development and application of international standards.

- Requiring all industries and factories to install technical specifications and certificates of compliance of their products with energy standards. Take out production lines of old industries or integrate modern standards in these sectors.

- Requiring industries to apply and upgrade quality standards such as ISO series standards and….

- Tax exemption for industries that are moving towards global standardization of their products.

- Expand and support high-yield industries. - Granting low-interest facilities to industries that upgrade, upgrade and optimize their equipment. - Upgrading and modifying old equipment and industries such as cement industries, brick kilns and….

- Production of low consumption products with high energy efficiency. - Use of heat recovery technologies in large industries. - Creation, expansion and close interaction between industry and academia in energy affairs.

- Closing down industries that enter the market outside the usual world standards.

Undoubtedly, in addition to applying the provisions and cases mentioned in the above sections, culture and public awareness under the guidance of organizations in charge of energy affairs, will play a very important role in improving the quantity and quality of energy consumption in the country.

Culture and policy-making related to energy: Undoubtedly, one of the most important factors that has caused the per capita consumption and waste of energy in our country is very high, is the lack of awareness and cultural vacuum in this regard. We should not forget that developed and developed countries have mentioned culture building and raising public awareness in the field of energy optimization as the most important factor in creating public determination to reduce energy consumption, and in order to achieve this, the role of public media in Such as radio, television, press and have been mentioned as very effective tools.

It is no exaggeration to say that the most important and fundamental step regarding the improvement and optimization of energy consumption in the country is to raise the level of information and public awareness and to create an appropriate culture regarding energy management.

However, considering the role and importance of the issue, efforts have been made to provide appropriate scientific and practical suggestions and solutions that can be implemented to modify and institutionalize the principles of consumption and the culture of optimization and energy efficiency in Iranian society.
