The idea of baking cupcakes and small cakes was first proposed in 1796 in the American Cookery by Emilia Simmons. However, the name cupcake first appeared in 1828, when the famous author and culinary expert Eliza Leslie published her cookbook, Receipts, which contained the first recipe for cupcakes.
In the early nineteenth century, there were two different definitions for cupcakes.
Many centuries ago, before muffin tins became widely available; Cakes were often baked in earthenware cups and took their name from the cup in which they were baked. This is the definition that is still used today. Any small cake the size of a cup is now called a cupcake.
But in another definition, cupcake referred to a cake whose ingredients were weighed using a standard cup. In later years, when the use of a single size for cake ingredients was firmly established in home kitchens, these recipes became known as cake one, two, three, four because they consisted of four ingredients: one It consisted of a cup of butter, two cups of sugar, three cups of flour, and four eggs.
As the concept of cupcakes became popular, they became the most popular homemade cakes, and years later, in 1919, for the first time, an American confectioner named hostess introduced and sold this single dessert as a "snack cake". There was no frosting in the original cupcake recipes and they were only flavored with some spices and dried fruits. Finally, in 1920, vanilla or chocolate frosting was first used to decorate cupcakes. Today, confectionery cupcakes come in a variety of flavors and models. Their delicate appearance, small size and balanced shape for decorative purposes have made this cake model an affordable and suitable product for confectioners and customers. And since everyone from big to small is a big fan of cupcakes, they can be easily served in various ceremonies such as seismic celebration, dental celebration, birthday celebration and even wedding and wedding anniversary celebrations.
It is interesting to know that the popularity of cupcakes is so great that they have even been able to make some days in the calendar. For example, October 18 is World Chocolate Cupcake Day, November 9 is World Vanilla Cupcake Day and December 15 is World Lemon Cupcake Day.
The record for eating the most cupcakes in the shortest time belongs to a person named Glutton Matt Stonie who managed to set a strange record in eating cakes by eating 125 cupcakes in 8 minutes and 55.15 seconds.
The world's largest cupcake was made in 2009. The cake weighed two million calories, was 4 feet tall and weighed 1,224 pounds.
In England it is called fairy cake cup cake and in Australia it is called patty cakes.
